Mr Gaia (André) has worked for 20 years in the service and hospitality industry and Mrs Gaia (Emma) has a keen interest and worked in the health and wellbeing sector for many years. Gaia (or Vila Nova de Gaia) is the name of André's home town in Portugal, making it the perfect choice for our first store as we provide ethical and eco products which help sustain Mother Earth, or Gaia.
The majority of our products are sourced or made in the UK and we use a local family business wholesaler to help reduce travel miles. The store has also been lovingly kitted out by hand by André using all reclaimed fixtures and fittings from scrap wood, metal and pallets, as well as upcycling furniture.
Combining André's dream for opening his own business since he left Portugal all those years ago, with Emma's love for the wellbeing sector we hope you will love what we have created in store and online.
We also run Health and Wellbeing events in our workshop space, to complement the products and lifestyle we strive to offer you. Check out our events page to see what is coming up! Mrs Gaia holds some of these and she also offers Tarot Readings and Rahanni Energy Healing as well in our treatment room.
In 2024 we launched a monthly community market for local crafters, makers and producers to showcase their products. On the first Saturday of every month from 10am to 4pm, the Carlton Place and Upper & Lower Banister Streets become alive with lots of lovely artisan products. If you would like to find out more head over to the Market Section on the website.
